Multiple opened databases can cause the flicker when RootsMagic opens. RootsMagic can have as many as 9 databases open at one time. The databases can be different databases, multiple copies of the same database or a mix of different and same databases.

Click on Window at the top of the RM screen.

At the bottom of the Window screen, there is a list of the databases that are open. You can have multiple different databases open or the same database open multiple times.

One database will have a check mark. This is the database that has the focus that you are working in at present.

Click on another database in the list and it will have the focus.

To check out the opened databases, click on Cascade and the databases will be cascaded on the screen with any minimized databases showing on the bottom of the screen.

To change the database shown in front, click on the top line of the database where it gives the name of the database.

If you highlight a minimized database and click on Window, that database will have the check mark by the name of the minimized database.

If you maximize a database, you will need to go to Window and Cascade again.

Close out any databases you don't want open one at a time or choose to close them all.

If you close a database from the Cascade screen by just highlighting the database name and click the X, you will not get the notice to backup the database if you have that selected in Tools, Program options.

So if you want to backup a database before you close it, highlight it on the Cascade screen and go to File, Backup to backup the database. You don't need to maximize the database first.
